The fraud targets people looking for discounted electronic products by redirecting them to counterfeit websites or private messaging platforms where payments are collected without delivering any products.

Authorities have urged consumers to verify offers only through Flipkart’s official platforms and avoid transferring money based on links shared through social media.

Flipkart GOAT Sale Scam Uses Fake Social Media Pages

According to Kerala Police, fraudsters have created Facebook pages with names similar to Flipkart’s branding, including “Flipkart GOAT SALE”, “Goat Sale Live”, “Offers Sale” and “FK Goats Offer’s”.

The fake advertisements promote premium products such as smartphones, laptops and other electronic gadgets at prices far below the market rate. When users click on the ads, they are redirected to websites designed to imitate Flipkart’s official portal or to WhatsApp numbers controlled by scammers.

The fraudsters then pressure customers with claims of limited stock or expiring offers, convincing them to pay booking charges, advance payments, delivery fees or offer confirmation charges.

Kerala Police Issues Safety Advisory for Online Shoppers

Police said victims often lose money after making the initial payment, as fraudsters either stop responding, demand additional payments or never deliver the promised products.

Consumers have been advised not to trust shopping offers received through Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp or Telegram without proper verification. Authorities recommend checking every promotion only through Flipkart’s official website or mobile application before making a purchase.

How to Protect Yourself From Online Shopping Fraud

Before making any online payment, shoppers should:

Verify offers only on Flipkart’s official website or app.
Avoid transferring money to unknown bank accounts or UPI IDs.
Never share OTPs, debit or credit card details, CVV, PIN or banking credentials with anyone.
Be cautious of products advertised at prices that appear too good to be true.

Kerala Police also urged victims of online financial fraud to act quickly by calling the national cybercrime helpline 1930 or filing a complaint through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
