- Odisha’s draft electoral roll was published on July 5 under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
- Voters whose names are missing can file claims and objections until August 4.
- The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on September 6.
BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha voter list revision has entered a crucial phase after the Election Commission of India published the draft electoral roll on July 5. Thousands of voter names have been removed during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), and affected citizens now have a limited window to restore their registration before the final electoral roll is issued.
Eligible voters whose names are missing can submit claims either online or through their local Booth Level Officer (BLO). The Election Commission has fixed August 4 as the deadline for filing claims and objections.
Odisha Voter List Revision: How to Check Your Name
Citizens should verify their names in the draft electoral roll immediately through any of the following channels:
- Their local Booth Level Officer (BLO)
- NVSP mobile application
- voters.eci.gov.in
- ceoodisha.nic.in
If a name has been removed, voters must submit Form-6 along with Annexure-4 and supporting documents. Applications can be filed online or submitted directly to the BLO.
Separate application forms are also available for address changes, correction of personal details and registration of persons with disabilities.
Reasons for Deletion During Odisha Voter List Revision
According to the Election Commission, names have been removed from the draft electoral roll for several reasons, including:
- The voter shifted to another state or Union Territory.
- The voter could not be traced despite verification.
- Required forms were not submitted before the June 28 deadline.
- The voter no longer wished to remain registered.
- Multiple registrations existed, requiring only one valid entry to be retained.
Young Voters Can Register During Special Enrolment Drive
The Election Commission is also focusing on enrolling first-time voters. Individuals who turned 18 years of age on or after July 1, 2026, can apply for voter registration using Form-6 along with the required declaration.
Special enrolment camps will be organised across Odisha to simplify the registration process for eligible citizens.
The verification exercise is expected to conclude by September 2, ahead of the publication of the final electoral roll on September 6. The Commission said every deletion follows the prescribed legal process, with notices issued wherever required. Voters dissatisfied with a decision may appeal first before the District Magistrate and subsequently before the Chief Electoral Officer.
The Special Intensive Revision is intended to improve the accuracy of Odisha’s electoral rolls by ensuring that only eligible voters remain registered while providing every genuine voter an opportunity to correct or restore their details before the final list is published.
