Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid heartfelt tribute to freedom fighter Mangal Pandey on his birth anniversary, calling him one of India’s leading warriors against British rule. In a social media post, PM Modi lauded Pandey’s bravery and defiance, stating that his story of courage and valour will forever inspire the nation.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid homage to Mangal Pandey, describing him as a symbol of patriotism who sparked the fire of India’s First War of Independence in 1857. “With the spark of his valour, Mangal Pandey turned the 1857 uprising into a massive flame, shaking the foundations of British rule,” Shah wrote on social media.
He highlighted how under Pandey’s leadership, Barrackpore Cantonment emerged as a powerful centre of resistance, setting off a wave of rebellion across the nation.
Nadda and Rajnath Singh Recall Pandey’s Legacy
Union Minister J.P. Nadda saluted Pandey’s sacrifice and dedication, stating that his legacy will continue to inspire generations in their devotion to the motherland.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that Pandey’s contribution played a critical role in awakening India’s national consciousness. He noted that Pandey’s heroism and sacrifice remain a guiding force for the youth and future generations.
