According to early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk, Thug Life earned ₹4.4 crore (India net) across all languages on its second day. This brings the film’s total India net collection to ₹19.9 crore. On Day 2, Tamil screenings led the collection, while occupancy in other language versions remained relatively low — with 26.54% Tamil Occupancy, 4.80% Hindi Occupancy, and 14.30% Telugu Occupancy for the 2D version.

Worldwide Collection

On its opening day, Thug Life grossed an impressive ₹40 crore worldwide, comprising ₹15.5 crore from India and ₹22 crore from overseas markets. The movie has been released in over 2,220 theatres internationally, a joint venture of Raaj Kamal Films International and Madras Talkies.

Thug Life Review

The film has received mixed to negative responses from critics. Noted film trade analyst Sumit Kadel rated Thug Life just 2 stars, calling it “A HUGE LET DOWN“.

In his review, Kadel mentioned:

“The movie starts off with a bit of promise and some interesting moments, but it quickly loses steam and becomes dull. The first half is just about watchable because of the setup and a few engaging scenes. But after that, it completely falls apart.”

He acknowledged the film’s high-quality production and visual appeal but believes it may only find limited success, mainly in Tamil Nadu, and predicted it will be a disaster in the Hindi belt.

Cast

Thug Life stars an ensemble cast including Kamal Haasan, Trisha Krishnan, T.R. Silambarasan, Abhirami, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal, and Mahesh Manjrekar.
