WPL 2023 GG Vs RCB: Gujarat Giants Win Toss and Elect to Bat Against Bangalore

Published on

Mumbai: WPL 2023 GG Vs RCB: Gujarat Giants captain Sneh Rana was elected to bat first in the WPL 2023 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai on Wednesday.

After winning the toss, the playing XI remains unchanged from Sunday’s three-wicket loss against the UP Warriors, Sneh said. “It’s a used ground. We want to be free to bat in our depth. The environment was very positive, like the cricket we played. I’m enjoying the role. It’s on your shoulders,” he added. .

Bangalore captain Smriti Mandhana said leg-spin all-rounder Poonam Khemnar will be in the eleven to replace striker Disha Kasat.

“With the goal in mind, I don’t mind doing both. But we would also like to bat. We discussed as a bowling unit (about the short outside dimensions). The first two games were not the way we wanted to start. There are 8 matches left until the eliminator or final. A very important game in this context,” said Mandhana.

Both Gujarat and Bangalore, who have suffered back-to-back defeats, would be looking to get off the points table in Wednesday’s match. Gujarat are playing at the Brabourne Stadium for the first time in the competition.

After a terrible start in WPL 2023, both teams will be looking to record their first win in the tournament. RCB skipper Smriti Mandhana will be looking to get these two crucial points of the tournament. On the other hand, the Giants, who are still without their skipper Beth Mooney, have strengthened their bowling attack and will be looking to secure the win.
