Coal Scam Cases: ED summons West Bengal Law Minister Malay Ghatak

Kolkata: The Enforcement Department (ED) on Tuesday issued a fresh summons to West Bengal Justice Minister Malay Ghatak in connection with a major coal scam cases in the state.

Sources said ED investigators sent an email statement to Ghatak, MP from Asansol North constituency, asking him to appear at the agency’s headquarters in New Delhi on March 29. March 23. But the minister did not know about the new summons issued against him until Tuesday evening.

This is not the first time that Getak has been summoned by the ED in connection with a major coal smuggling scam. But he evaded the summons every time.

Last September, emergency investigators conducted raids and search operations at many residences of Ghatak and his relatives in Asansol and Kolkata in West Burdwan district. The minister also faced a marathon interrogation at that point.

Since then, the ED has issued multiple summonses to him to appear at the agency’s New Delhi office on several occasions. However, he evaded the summons every time.
