New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday thanked former US President Donald Trump for his warm greetings on the occasion of his 75th birthday. The two leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to taking the India-US Comprehensive and Global Partnership to new heights.

Modi’s Response to Trump’s Call

Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi wrote:

“Thank you, my friend, President Trump, for your phone call and warm greetings on my 75th birthday. Like you, I am also fully committed to taking the India-US Comprehensive and Global Partnership to new heights. We support your initiatives towards a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict.”

The post was tagged to both Trump’s official handle @realDonaldTrump and the official @POTUS account.

Focus on Global Partnership

India and the US share a growing relationship across multiple domains including trade, defense, technology, energy, and climate change. Over the past decade, the partnership has expanded from being strategic to becoming comprehensive and global, addressing not only bilateral issues but also global challenges.

PM Modi’s remarks highlight India’s consistent position on promoting peace in conflict zones, including support for initiatives aimed at a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict.

Modi-Trump Bond

The camaraderie between PM Modi and Donald Trump gained global attention during events like “Howdy Modi” in Houston (2019) and “Namaste Trump” in Ahmedabad (2020), which showcased the strength of India-US ties under their leadership.

Even though the US now has a different administration, Trump’s outreach and Modi’s warm response underline the personal rapport shared by the two leaders.

With India playing an increasingly central role in global diplomacy, PM Modi’s assurance of support for Trump’s peace initiatives reflects New Delhi’s balanced approach to international relations. The reaffirmation of the India-US Comprehensive and Global Partnership further cements the importance of the bilateral relationship in shaping global stability.
