New Delhi: Newly appointed Nitin Nabin BJP National President on Tuesday set the tone for his tenure by asserting that politics is not about power or personal comfort, but about responsibility, sacrifice and discipline. Addressing party leaders and workers at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, Nabin said his elevation marked not just a position change, but a deeper commitment to the party’s ideology and nationalist mission.

Calling the moment one of resolve, he said he was accepting the traditions, values and responsibilities of what he described as a movement dedicated to national service.

Politics Is a Spiritual Practice: Nabin

In a strongly worded address, Nitin Nabin said politics should be rooted in selflessness rather than authority.

“Politics is not power, it is spiritual practice. It is not indulgence, but sacrifice. It is not luxury and comfort, it is austerity. Politics is not a position of authority, it is responsibility,” he said.

His remarks drew applause from party workers, many of whom attended the event marking his formal assumption of office.

Youngest BJP Chief Elected Unopposed

Nabin was elected unopposed as BJP National President during the party’s organisational exercise, Sangathan Parv, becoming the youngest leader to hold the post. He was felicitated by senior leaders including Narendra Modi, outgoing BJP president J P Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

Gratitude to Party Workers and PM Modi

Expressing gratitude, Nabin said it was the support of ordinary BJP workers that enabled his rise to the party’s top organisational post. He also thanked Prime Minister Modi, saying BJP workers have consistently drawn inspiration from his dedication to national service.

Recalling early interactions with the Prime Minister during a programme in Anand, Gujarat, Nabin said he learned that true leadership lies in forming an emotional connection with people.

Vision of a Developed India

The new BJP chief said the vision of a developed India is now shared by 140 crore citizens, crediting PM Modi for giving the nation a clear developmental roadmap. He added that the party’s ideological foundation rests on the principle of “Nation First, Party Next, and Self Last.”

Focus on Elections and Ideology

Looking ahead, Nabin expressed confidence in the BJP’s prospects in upcoming Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, Assam, West Bengal, Kerala and Puducherry. He said the dedication and hard work of party workers would ensure success across all five states.

He also criticised opposition parties for what he described as interference in India’s cultural and religious traditions, asserting that forces opposing such traditions should have no place in national politics.

Prime Minister Modi later congratulated Nabin following his address. Earlier in the day, Nabin formally took charge as BJP National President in a ceremony attended by senior party leaders and Chief Ministers from BJP-ruled states, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the party’s leadership.
