The second-order effect of prolonged hot and humid conditions could increase health risks such as dehydration, heat exhaustion and reduced productivity, particularly among outdoor workers and vulnerable populations.
Coastal Odisha Likely to Face Maximum Discomfort
Meteorologists said coastal districts are likely to experience higher humidity levels due to moisture-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal.
Such conditions typically create severe discomfort because even moderate temperatures feel significantly hotter when humidity remains high.
Health experts advise people to:
- Avoid direct sunlight during afternoon hours
- Drink sufficient water
- Wear light cotton clothing
- Reduce strenuous outdoor activity
IMD Monitoring Weather Conditions Closely
The India Meteorological Department said further updates and warnings will be issued depending on changing atmospheric conditions.
Weather experts are also monitoring pre-monsoon developments over eastern India as Odisha gradually moves towards the southwest monsoon season.
