Sundargarh Coal Smuggling: Former MLA Kusum Tete Seeks CM’s Intervention

Published on

Former MLA and BJP leader Kusum Tete has called on Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to act decisively in response to the widespread coal smuggling in the Telendihi reserve forest in Sundargarh district.

She said in a letter to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi that unlawful activities continue in spite of recent district administration raids, including a well-publicized raid on April 6. Tete claimed that there are no arrests or signs of deterrent, and that the smuggling is unchecked because of a well-established network. She has called on the Chief Minister to handle the problem with prompt and firm action.

Furthermore, Tete questioned the efficacy of the current enforcement activity, voicing concerns that the major conspirators behind the coal smuggling scheme are still at large. No notable progress has been made in spite of raids and public attention, indicating a more serious problem that need attention.

Tete’s letter to the CM stated, “The kingpins of the coal crime syndicate are still at large despite the raids and shocking revelations, as neither the news channel nor the officials reported any arrests nor any breakthrough into the vicious circle.”

She also wrote, “Your benign authority’s swift action is highly solicited for a perennial curb on such a catastrophic crime along with passing soon an order for a high-level probe into the plunder of precious public property.” She further urged the Chief Minister to act immediately in this matter.
